Role Overview

As an SDE-III at CUBE, you’ll play a pivotal role in architecting scalable solutions, guiding the engineering team, and owning the delivery of core product features. You’ll not only write production-grade code but also influence technical strategy, mentor SDE-I and SDE-II developers, and lead cross-functional initiatives. This role is ideal for someone ready to transition into a Tech Lead path while staying hands-on with code.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of complex product modules across the MERN stack
  • Own critical system components — ensure scalability, fault-tolerance, and performance
  • Review architecture decisions, PRs, and establish engineering standards and patterns
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to shape technical solutions
  • Mentor and guide junior/mid-level engineers; foster a culture of learning and quality
  • Drive system refactoring, API standardization, and engineering best practices
  • Optimize data models and backend performance for large-scale multi-tenant systems
  • Contribute to DevOps, deployment automation, observability, and incident resolution
  • Work closely with founders and Engineering Manager on roadmap priorities and build-vs-buy decisions

Requirements

Must-Have:

  • 6+ years of full-stack development experience with at least 4 years on the MERN stack
  • Deep understanding of Node.js internals, scalable APIs, React component architecture
  • Strong experience with MongoDB optimization, schema design, and performance tuning
  • Proven ability to design scalable system architecture and multi-environment deployment
  • Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD, Docker, or Kubernetes
  • Solid understanding of security practices, testing strategies, and production monitoring

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in leading teams or mentoring developers
  • Exposure to SaaS multi-tenancy, RBAC, audit trails, or document management systems
  • Familiarity with AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, CloudWatch) or other cloud infrastructure
  • Contributions to open source, tech talks, or engineering blogs
  • Domain expertise in construction tech, AEC, or infrastructure platforms (bonus)
